Cranford Plein-Air Event

Cranford Plein Air Event 

Nationally known fine artists will be descending on beautiful Cranford to PAINT THE TOWN! Watch the artists at work transform Cranford for several days into a town-sized outdoor painting studio culminating in a grand finale show and sale of all artwork. These accomplished jury-selected artists will create original oil, acrylic, pastel and watercolor paintings at locations throughout our area.

Utrecht is proud to be a part of this extremly popular and fast growing art experience and is sponsoring a prize for the event.

Joe G at AOY

Artists of Yardley welcomes Utrecht Brand Manager Joe Gyurcsak as their guest speaker this Wednesday, April 1, 2009. This lecture covers the historical beginnings of oil color all the way up to modern day manufacturing; in addition to, explaining the chemistry and coatings technology behind artists oil colors.

The AOY monthly meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Yardley-Makefield Branch of the Bucks County Free Library, 1080 Edgewood Road. Meetings are free and open to the public. More info is available here.

III Guys at Artworks

III Guys at Artworks 

Went to an excellent show opening over the weekend at Artworks in Trenton. There is great work by three very talented artists and I’d recommend it to everybody. There will be an artist’s talk on Saturday April 11th at 2pm. You can read more about the artists and the show on the Artworks website.

Sunday Night -Joe Gyurcsak

The Gallery at Mercer County Community College presents A Light Without-A Light Within, featuring the work of Utrecht Resident Artist and Brand Manager Joe Gyurcsak, MCCC painting professor Kyle Stevenson and Lambertville plein-air painter Robert Beck. The show explores these three artists’ amazing ability to capture light in both interior and exterior settings.   The opening reception will be on Wednesday November, 12th at 5pm, and there is a gallery talk scheduled for Thursday, December 4th at 6:30 pm.

The Utrecht Art Supply Outlet Store Helps Out

Next week is the South Amboy annual window painting contest done by the local children. This year the organization was in a bind and could not get their art supplies on time.  After working with the administrator, the Utrecht Outlet Store was able to supply them everything they needed for the event. They will paint the storefront windows all week and the judging will take place on the weekend. Good Luck to all the participants !!!!!

I still have a few over sized canvases left but, they are going fast. Call me if you are interested in them. Also, don’t forget, if there are items you need and don’t have time to browse, call ahead, give me the items needed and I’ll have them ready for you when you get here.

Looking for Art Lessons in central New Jersey?

Based on the Renaissance model of the Atelier, Marcel’s Art Studio attracts people of all ability levels who are interested in developing their skills in oil painting, drawing, airbrush, pastels, pen and ink, and watercolor.

After a series of introductory exercises, students select their own subjects and media and work at their own pace under the guidance of Marcel Franquelin, a classically trained artist with 30 years of experience. Check out the Students section of the website for testimony to the caliber of the learning experience and the consequent products.

In addition to studio practice, students are encouraged to participate in exhibitions and art competitions. There are a variety of membership programs to accomodate students’ personal schedules and needs.
